Each Way

SOLSTICE SON was a useful performer before injury sidelined him for over 15 months, and while he is making his return to racing in what looks a competitive heat today, if he retains his previous ability, he should still be good enough to get into the frame in the 1.15 opening race at Doncaster.

UNPLACED - OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT RETAIN HIS OLD ABILITY

FIRST SERGEANT was a useful little performer on the flat, and at around 20-1 for his debut over hurdles, he is picked as the Each Way selection to get into the first three in the 2.55 contest at Doncaster.

UNPLACED - OBVIOUSLY NOT A HURDLER!

The in form WHATAKNIGHT is likely to go off at around 4-1 favourite for the 3.30 contest at Doncaster, and while he could well win, with 18 rivals in the race, Each Way caution is suggested.

FINISHED 2ND AT 7-1

NUNO TRISTAN steps up to Class 3 in the 6.10 six furlong contest at Chelmsford, but as he is drawn reasonably well, and is a Course & Distance victor, he is suggested as the good Each Way option in what looks a very competitive contest.

SOLWAY SAM had put together a consistent run of sound performances before blotting his copy-book on his latest outing. Consequently, he has been dropped a few pounds in the handicap for the 2.20 contest today at Carlisle, and is therefore our Each Way suggestion for that race.

UNPLACED - OBVIOUSLY NOT YET LOW ENOUGH IN THE HANDICAP

EXCEEDING POWER  was another with a good run of form before finishing sixth on his most recent outing 13 days ago, but he looks well in in the 7.25  Class 4 contest at Kempton, and it is only because he has not won over the course that we suggest he should be supported Each Way.

Having failed to get into the frame on his last two attempts over a trip of 1 mile 6 furlongs, WITH HINDSIGHT returns to 1 mile 4 furlongs at Southwell this afternoon, a trip over which he enjoyed plenty of success towards the end of 2015, and he is therefore our Each Way selection in the 2.45 contest at the Nottinghamshire track.

FINISHED 2ND AT 4-1

In the 3.50 at Southwell, top weight SIR BILLY WRIGHT may go off as favourite, and while he is handicapped to win, his best performances have been over 5 furlongs, so for this 6 furlong test - Each Way caution is suggested.

FINISHED 3RD AT 9-4 FAV

ASTRA HALL is handicapped to make it into the first three in the 2.10 opener at Wolverhampton, and so is our Each Way choice in that particular contest.

FINISHED 3RD AT 10-1

PERIL is likely to go off as favourite for the 4.40 Class 3 contest at Wolverhampton, and while it would appear stats favour a victory, a long absence from the track up against race fit rivals encourages Each Way caution.

EACH WAY

With his propensity to finish in the first two over 5 furlongs at Chelmsford, combined with today’s draw in Stall 1, BROTHER TIGER is our Each Way selection in the 2.40 race at the Essex course.

FINISHED 1ST AT 6-1F

ARISTO DU PLESSIS has the course form to win the 3.00 Listed Handicap Hurdle at Musselburgh, but as he has to carry top weight due to his recent good run of form, Each Way caution is suggested.

UNPLACED

Nicky Henderson does not send his horses all the way from Lambourn to Musselburgh for the good of their health, so CALL THE COPS looks the Each Way shout in the closing 4.30 Pertemps Hurdle Qualifier at the East Lothian track.

After a good start to the season, ROGUE TRADER seems to have lost his way of late, but today’s drop in class may help the gelding to regain his ‘mojo’, and so Each Way support is recommended in the 3.20 contest at Naas.

Back over today’s shorter trip of 2 mile 5 furlongs on better ground than he has had in his last two races, MONKSLAND may be able to use his undoubted hurdling speed towards the end of the race, and so is our Each Way selection to finish in the first two in the 6 runner 2.30 contest at Leopardstown.

FINISHED 2ND AT 6-1

YALA ENKI should be suited by the track at Sandown, and he is preferred as an Each Way selection to likely favourite Baywing in the 3.00 Grade 3 Hurdle at the Esher track.

FINISHED 3RD AT 7-2

In the 3.05 Leopardstown race, a 2 mile Handicap Hurdle, the consistent MIGHTY CONCORDE is the Each Way selection to make it into the first 4 in this 16 runner heat.

FINISHED 2ND AT 6-1

When he lines up in the 3.30 Chase at Sandown, course specialist LE REVE should put some recent indifferent form behind him on better ground than of late, and whle he may not win the same race he won in 2015, the chaser is expected to make it into the first three in this 3 mile contest.

FINISHED 1ST AT 4-1

VALSEUR LIDO fell on his last outing, but Ruby Walsh has today opted to ride  this Willie Mullins-trained runner  instead of the yard’s two other entrants in the 3 mile Gold Cup at Leopardstown,(3.40-pm), and while likely hot favourite  Road To Riches will take some beating, VALSEUR LIDO is our Each Way selection to make the first three home at a reasonable price.

Although a tricky 5 runner Novice Chase, Each Way selection KIAMA BAY will look to improve on his chasing debut third when he lines up in the 2.10 2 mile contest at Chepstow.

FINISHED OUT OF THE FRAME

DRUM SHAMBO has not reached the same standards this season as he achieved in the 2014 – 2015 national hunt season – But he is now dropping down the handicap, and is currently off a mark that should see him get into the frame at a reasonable price today in the 4.20Handicap Chase at Chepstow.

SNEAKED INTO 3RD PLACE AT 6-1

While  St Saviour is likely to go off as the odds-on favourite for the 1.10 contest at Ludlow, BERLAND could have the beating of the ‘jolly’, and so is preferred as the Each Way option to get into the first two at a reasonable price in this 6 runner contest.

FINISHED 2ND AT 7-2 BEHIND ST SAVIOUR (4-6 FAV)

Course victor ZAMA ZAMA should win the 3.55 Handicap Chase at Ludlow, but with some stiff competition in the 2 mile contest, Each Way caution is recommended.

UNPLACED

Course and distance winner GRAMS AND OUNCES has a fair bit of weight to carry in the 4.30 Amateur Riders Handicap Hurdle at Ludlow – So while the gelding is setting out to record a four-time winning streak, Each Way caution is suggested for today’s 2 mile contest.

UNPLACED
In the 6.10 race at Kempton, Jammy Guest is likely to go off as a worthy favourite for the 7 furlong Class 4 contest – But his wide draw could be a problem, and so top weight DUTIFUL SON, (who has been running in some useful company), is preferred as an Each Way option in that race.

SEA WALL has not been the most consistent of late, but he looks well handicapped to at least get into the frame at a reasonable price in the 3.45 contest at Taunton.

FINISHED 1ST AT 8-1

Following a lengthy injury break, TOUR DES CHAMPS got back to winning ways straight away on his come back run over today’s trip in the Welsh Grand National Trial at Chepstow, but he then pulled up during the actual Welsh National back at the Monmouthshire track.
However, putting his last run down to the ‘bounce phenominum’, he is given the chance to demonstrate he still retains ability with our Each Way selection in the 4.15 race at Taunton.

UNPLACED

DEEP RESOLVE has to carry top weight in the 4.00 contest at Southwell, but even so, his form suggests he should be able to get a place in the first three, and so he is our Each Way pick in that 1 mile contest.

2.45 Sedgefield – Bnot A Bother Boy - 2nd @ 4-1
3.50 Sedgefield – Firth Of The Clyde - 1st @ 4-1

EACH WAY

Under normal circumstances, OSCAR SAM would be a Win Selection in the 2.30 Pertemps Hurdle Qualifier at Punchestown – But as these particular races often throw up a surprise victor, we are on this occasion suggesting Each Way caution for the 2.30 contest at the Irish track.

AS SUGGESTED - ONLY 2ND AT 9-2

Felix Yonger is likely to be the hot odds on favourite for the Tied Cottage Chase (3.00 Punchestown), but the back to form FLEMENSTAR makes more appeal as an Each Way selection to get into the first two in that 6 runner 2 mile race.

FINISHED 2ND AT 3-1

While Uncle Junior is a likely worthy race favourite on what he has achieved, last year’s winner BALLYBOKER BRIDGE  has Each Way appeal in the 3.30 Cross Country contest at Punchestown.

FINISHED 1ST AT 9-2

LYREEN LEGEND  was once a classy performer, and if he is ever to recapture former glories, he has no better chance than in the 4.05 Grand National Trial at Punchestown, and so, despite the burden of top weight, he is the Each Way selection in that 3 mile 4 furlong contest.

POLARBROOK has been thwarted on two previous occasions by one rival over today’s course and distance at Doncaster, and he is the Each Way choice to get back into the frame in the 12.30 Handicap Hurdle on Town Moor.

FINISHED OUT OF THE FRAME

RED SPINNER  has been in good form so far this season, and while he is stepping up in class in the 1.30 contest at Doncaster, he is at least expected to make it into the frame at a reasonable price.

UNPLACED

INTENSE TANGO has been keeping fit of late by running on the Flat on the All Weather surface, which has made her stats look a bit lack lustre, but a repeat of her Listed victory over hurdles at Wetherby at the start of the current campaign should see her go close today, and she is the Each Way selection to get into the first two in the 7 runner 2.05 Mares Hurdle at Doncaster.

UNPLACED

LE MERCURY needs to prove himself today against older seasoned chasers, as well as over the 3 mile trip of the 3.15 race at Doncaster, and on that basis, we suggest that despite his undoubted class as a novice chaser – Each Way caution is suggested.

FAILED TO FEATURE IN FRAME

UN TEMPS POUR TOUT is undoubtedly the class act in the 1.15 Novice Handicap Chase at Cheltenham, and today’s drop back in trip should suit. But – he has top weight in very testing ground, and he keeps finding one to beat him – So while he is likely to go off at around 5-1 favourite, we suggest Each Way caution.

UNPLACED - EVEN TODAY'S CAUTION PROVED UNSUCCESSFUL

The Neptune Investment Management Novice Hurdle Trial (3.00 Cheltenham), should see Yanworth crowned as the likely favourite for the race proper at March’s Cheltenham Festival – But, on today’s very testing ground, the unbeaten SHANTOU VILLAGE makes Each Way appeal to upset Yanworth’s coronation.

UNPLACED - UNFORTUNATELY, FAILED TO LIVE UP TO EXPECTATION

WHINGING WILLIE has the burden of top weight in the 4.30 at Lingfield, but he has been in good form of late, winning over course and distance not so long ago – So at around 6-1, he is our Each Way selection in this Amateur Riders Handicap.

FRUITY O’ROONEY has been in good heart of late, and with the 3 mile trip over Fakenham’s testing track likely to suit him, the gelding is the Each Way selection in the  2.30 contest at the East Anglian track.

FINISHED OUT OF THE FRAME

SYBARITE is hard to catch on a going day, but the 2.55 3 mile 2 furlong contest at Warwick looks like the kind of Class 3 contest where this querky character could make it into the frame at a big price.

FINISHED 3RD AT 20-1

BIG TIME has been running in good company of late, and while course specialist and likely race favourite Exceeding Power looks reasonably well handicapped, the latter keeps finding one rival to beat him, so BIG TIME is our Each Way selectionat around 5-1 in the 7.10 Class 4 contest at Chelmsford.

FINISHED 1ST AT 4-1 JT FAV
MERLIN’S WISH has had some poor form of late, but if he can recapture just a shred of his best form in the 2.20 extended 3 mile race at Wetherby, top weight will not bother him, and as a proven stayer, the testing ground should be in his favour, and so he is the Each Way pick at a probable big price.

UNPLACED - RUN OF POOR FORM CONTINUES

Another capable top weight on her day is BALLYBOLLEY, and while her burden will be against her, this is not a particularly hot race, and so Each Way support at around 7-1 is recommended in the 3.25 Class 3 race at Wetherby.

FINISHED 3RD AT ASURPRISINGLY SHORT 9-2

In the 2.40 race at Southwell, it should be noted that THE LOCK MASTER has beaten most of his rivals on previous occasions, and while he is not exceptionally well treated in this 1 mile 4 furlong heat, he is the Each Way suggestion in what looks a tricky race.

FAILED TO TROUBLE THE JUDGE

NICHOLS CANYON has already bfeaten stable mate - Faugheen this season, and while the latter now looks back to his best, (as his win in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton suggests), the former is worth an Each Way wager in the 3.05 Irish Champion Hurdle, just in case the form earlier this season was not a fluke.

FINISHED 2ND AT 8-1

FINGAL BAY has already been thereabouts in three big races this season, and the 3 mile trip of the Peter Marsh Chase (3.15 Haydock) should suit him well, and he his therefore the Each Way pick in the race.

Lil ROCKERFELLA was second on his last outing in the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham, and he is therefore selected as our Each Way prospect to get into the frame at a reasonable price in the 2.25 Grade 3 contest at Ascot.

EACH WAY

The 2.00 6 furlong Class 2 contest at Lingfield Park looks a tricky heat, but despite his wide draw, MAGNUS MAXIMUS has the form to at least get into the frame, and he is the Each Way choice in this race.

UNPLACED - BEATEN BY HIS WIDE DRAW

The 3.05 at Lingfield is also a competitive contest, and here REALIZE has the form and draw suitable to at least get into the first three in this Class 2 race.

FINISHED 1ST AT 11-4 FAV

The connections of BUCHE DE NOEL have indicated a good run in the 2.20 race at Market Rasen today will be sufficient to give him a crack at this season’s Cheltenham Festival, and with question marks over the chasing ability of his four rivals in this 2 mile 5 furlong Graduation Chase, our selection looks capable of at least getting into the first two home at a reasonable SP.

UNPLACED - UNABLE TO MOVE UP IN CLASS

THINGER LICHT  has not run for over 6 months, but his liking for market Rasen makes him the Each Way selection in the 2.55 race at the Lincolnshire course.

FINISHED 2ND AT 5-1

We also have two Each Way picks for the meeting at Dundalk this evening, with KIMBAY capable of getting into the frame in the 6.30 contest over 6 furlongs. While

UNPLACED

top weight CAPTAIN CULLEN should have enough in hand to make the frame in the 8.30 heat over 7 furlongs.

FAILED TO MAKE THE FRAME

ANCIENT SANDS has been in good form of late, and is still on an attractive mark, and is available at a good price for an Each Way Punt in the 2.25 Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown.

UNPLACED

In the 3.00 Handicap Chase at Leopardstown, BLOOD COTIL is just preferred over his 10 rivals as an Each Way punt, as Willie Mullins has his runners in great form at present, and the improving ground should favour the top weight to at least obtain a place in the frame for this 2 mile 5 furlong contest.

ONCE AGAIN UNPLACED

OCEAN LEGEND is the preferred option in the 1.30 Race at Kempton, but Each Way caution is suggested.

UNPLACED

TODD will probably go off at around 7-2 favourite for the 3.10 2 mile race at Kempton, and while his form suggests he should win, he just keeps finding one too good for him on the day – hence, an Each Way Bet is suggested.

FINISHED 3RD AT 3-1

12.55 Wetherby – L’Ami Serge - 1st @ 1-6 Fav

EACH WAY

As he is so inconsistent, it is taking a risk to back RIGODIN DE BEAUCHENE even as an Each Way chance in today’s Classic Chase (3.35-pm) at Warwick. But he showed some of his old form last time out at Haydock, and he is a course and distance winner who handles heavy ground, so on balance, Each Way support seems in order.

UNPLACED

FIRST SERGEANT has no recent form to commend himself ahead of the 1.35 contest at Chelmsford, but he is coming off an 89 day break following a long hard 2015 campaign, and if recapturing his early form of last year, where he won over today’s trip, then he is worth an Each Way punt off his current mark.

UNPLACEDVIMY RIDGE is another who possesses good ability on his day, and as a course and distance winner who is drawn out of stall 1 in the 2.10 Class 3 contest at Chelmsford, he is chosen to get into the frame at a big Each Way price.

MIGHTY ZIP is likely to go off at around 9-2 favourite for the 4.45 race at Wolverhampton, and had he been drawn lower than stall 7, we would be suggesting a Win Bet. But because of his draw in a 13 runner contest, an Each Way punt is recommended.

UNFORTUNATELY FAILED TO TROUBLE THE JUDGE

Richard Hughes sends his progressive DUCHESS OF MARMITE to Dundalk for the first time tonight, and while his charge is up against some tough opponents in the 8.30 race, the 2 mile trip will suit, and at around 7-1, the ‘Hughesie’ runner looks a good Each Way chance.

FINISHED 2ND AT AN UNFORESEEN 9-4 FAV

UDOGO is likely to go off at around 5-1 favourite for the finale at Dundalk, and while a win looks likely, in such a competitive 1 mile 2 furlong contest, Each Way caution is suggested for the 9.00 race.

MR BURBIDGE has the form to win the 1.50 race at Catterick, but while he is likely to go off at around 3-1 fav, his lack of consistancy means we are suggesting an Each Way punt.

FAILED TO MAKE THE FRAME
In the 2.50 race at Catterick, ALTO DES MOTTES could go off at around 5-1 fav, but in a race over 3 miles 6 furlongs on soft ground in amongst a large field of rivals, we are suggesting an Each Way Bet makes more sense.

FINISHED 2ND AT A SUPRISING BUT PLEASING 10-1

FOLLOWMEUPTOCARLOW found 2 miles 6 furlongs on heavy ground too much for him on his last run, but back over 2 miles 4 furlongs in the 1.40 Handicap Hurdle on slightly better ground at Thurles will hopefully see him get back into the frame at a big price.

OOUT OF THE FRAME

The above comments could also apply to BRIGHT NEW DAWN in the 2.20 at Fairyhouse, and while he is likely to go off as the 3-1 favourite for this 2 mile 1 furlong Class A Chase, his habit of finding one too good for him makes him an Each Way selection for today’s contest.
